Our story

Born from love.
Built for dignity.

Wicked Technologies didn't start in a lab. It started with a grandmother named Shirley.

Alli Truttmann, founder and CEO of Wicked Technologies, had always been close to her grandmother. In her 90s, Shirley suffered from dementia, mild incontinence, and bedsores. Her skin was sensitive, her body fragile, and the moisture from incontinence made everything worse. Alli put her on Wicked Sheets, hoping to help keep her dry and comfortable. It helped. But it wasn't enough.

Shirley passed away in 2017 from incontinence-related bedsores. She was 94, and she had lived a beautiful life. But her end-of-life journey was painful. Preventable. And undignified in ways it didn't have to be.

"Watching your parents and grandparents go through that, you just feel helpless. But I knew there was a way things could be innovated."

Alli Truttmann, Founder & CEO

Not long after, one of Shirley's caregivers said something that stopped Alli in her tracks: "Maybe if the sheets were more absorbent, that would have helped with her incontinence." Just like that, an idea took shape.

From sheets to smart care

When the pandemic disrupted Wicked Sheets' supply chain in 2020, Alli used the pause to start building something new. She connected with a professor at the University of Louisville who had developed a wearable sensor to detect sweat. Sweat and urine have a lot in common. The question she asked changed everything: why can't this sensor detect urine and help caregivers respond faster to incontinence events?

She filed a patent. Applied for a grant from the National Institutes of Health. Won funding from the NIH and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She put Wicked Sheets on pause and went all in on what would become the Wicked Smart Pad®.

Smart incontinence care

The Wicked Smart Pad® is a washable, sensorized bed pad that detects as little as two ounces of moisture and sends real-time alerts to caregivers through an app. No more guessing. No more routine checks that come too late.

One in ten bedridden adults will develop incontinence-related bedsores. Urine is acidic. On aging, thinning skin, the damage happens fast. The Wicked Smart Pad exists to close the gap between when an event occurs and when a caregiver can respond, improving response times and restoring dignity to the people who deserve it most.

Our mission is simple: no senior should suffer preventable harm because no one knew they needed help. We build technology that tells you, immediately, reliably, and with care.

Today, Wicked Technologies works with senior living communities and care facilities across the country. In late 2025, the Wicked Smart Pad® received FDA clearance, a milestone that reflects years of rigorous development, clinical validation, and an unwavering commitment to getting this right. It is backed by one founding belief: that smart care is dignified care.

Because Shirley deserved better. And so does every person in her shoes.
